I have runner’s knee–a shredded meniscus
Patellofemoral syndrome–not a drop of cartilage left
You are too old
You need to slow down
You’re no spring chicken
Registration: check
Race bib: check
Let’s do this!
One more time.
Please, not again.

LOL — and great pics. Both are hilarious. I have runner’s knees, too, and now they don’t even want to walk. Listen to them. *looks into crystal ball* Hmmm, I see knee surgery in your future. 😛

Oh gosh, I know!
I’m actually trying to get it scheduled sometime between October and December. I’ve been in denial because who wants TWO surgeries in one calendar year?
When did this old age stuff happen?

When I was in my early 40’s. Of course, falling down a flight of stairs didn’t help either. Btw, my dad recently had knee surgery. One knee at a time within 6 months. He did great and recovered fast, and he’s in his 70’s. I’ve been putting it off.

I can’t even “like” your comment cuz it would seem cruel to like something that has you tumbling down stairs. OUCH!!

Just realized your question was probably rhetorical. LOL

Ouch! Sounds bad! But, what willpower you must have. Seriously commendable!

What you call willpower, my husband calls stubborn.
I’ll stick with your definition 🙂
Thanks for stopping in!

Hell yeah! Us gals have to stick together. Er.. no running for me though. I’ll be happy to cheer from the sidelines 😉

Ugh. My knee is killing following my 6k yesterday. I took it easy, but still. I was off running for a year and that first day back, my knee started hurting and I though, “Oh yeah, right. Forgot about you!” Why do they keep doing it to us!? Love the pictures and the lightheartedness of your 42 🙂

Hey friend!
Congrats on your 6K! It’s hard to ignore the knees isn’t it? I’m certainly trying to though.
Thanks for taking the time to stop and comment. I went lighter this week because I was so dark last week…sometimes the dark pieces linger a bit and I needed a little something positive to get through the week 🙂
I can’t wait to hop back over to your space to see what you’ve been up to!!

I know what you mean about the darkness. I can’t seem to stop it, though! At least this week I wasn’t as bad as last week! I loved hearing about your running – even if it’s painful. It’s another thing we have in common 🙂 xo

Don’t stop what you have going. It’s beautiful and putting things into words has a way of chasing away the darkness 🙂

I love it that your “us” is your knees! The most clever take on the prompt I’ve seen yet.

Hi Stacie,
Thank you so much for the kind words! I must give the idea credit to my hubby, though. When I threw him the prompt question, he immediately said, “Why don’t you ask your knees?”
I can’t wait to get over to the grid and see all the creative pieces people come up with. I so appreciate you stopping and taking the time to comment. Have a great day!!

I guess you’ll slow down when you have to and not a moment sooner. I liked the determination here.

Hi Tina,
If only had the same determination to do the durned laundry;-)
Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment. Have a great day!

Such a fun take on the prompt! Man, you are fit — regardless of the knee thing. (I had pretty much all of my remaining shredded cartilage removed when I was 29!) I am impressed. Life is short. Walk if you have to. ❤

Hahaha I almost went here. You have my complete sympathy and empathy. You can have my knees, too : )

Awww…a kindred spirit!
It was my husband to gave me the idea when I read him the prompt question.
I’m eager to get over to the grid today and see what everyone came up with. I assume I’ll get to read something from you??
Thank you for stopping by and commenting 🙂

Nope, you’ll have to go to the linky or blog; mine didn’t make the grid.

This was a Tough Mudder. The hubs still complains that I made him sign a death waiver to participate. It was Scott who gave me the idea as the answer to the writing prompt and it was fun to do 🙂

My husband has the same injury (diagnosed by Google because he refuses to go to the doctor) and is out walking the dog right now. The only concession he’s made is not dead lifting or squatting. I’m trying to trust that he knows his body or at the very least, trust that he can handle his own lessons. Love the pictures!!!

Hey! I know Dr. Google…doesn’t look near as good in a white lab coat as our family doctor does 🙂
I hate that for your hubby. It sucks when our bodies just don’t do what we want them to. But, as you’ve pointed out, knowing the limitations and trusting that is a good plan. I drove for 8 hours yesterday and found that more uncomfortable than the 3 mile run the day before. Solution: quit my job 🙂

My hubby says the same thing about sitting. Dr. Karen is learning to keep mum (except with the kids. They’re fair game!). 😉

I understand the addiction and euphoria. I can’t run anymore because of my knees so now I’m addicted to yoga. Not saying you’re addicted. Just saying! Love the pictures! So fun!!!

Hi Gina 🙂
Ah, yes…yoga!! I just know it would be good for me and I’ve tried it off and on for several years. The fact that you stopped running because of your knees and now you love yoga is a good universal sign that I need to try it again. Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to comment.
psst! “Addicted” is a very appropriate term 😉

And I can totally relate.. I hurt my knees bad snowboarding and falling on pure ice (painful) . I know a knee surgery will probably be in my future too.
